I have moved schools a lot lately, but I finally think I have landed one I will be at for awhile. As many of you may remember, I started at Jordan Hills Elementary in January of 2008 as a recess/copy room aide.
January 2008-July 2010
I was hired by the principal there in October of that year to be the new assistant custodian. I worked there until the end of the school year in July of 2010 when my position was dissolved and I was moved to Herriman High as an assistant custodian. July 2010-April 2011
I then decided I would make a really great head custodian, so I started to work my way up the ladder. I was hired at Joel P. Jensen Middle in April of 2011 as the lead custodian and worked from 2 to 10:30 pm.
April 2011-September 2011
I hated working nights, but was able to work from 7 am to 3:30 pm, during the summer hours. Finally, in September of this year I was hired as the head custodian at Westland Elementary.
September 2011- Present
I am told becoming a head custodian in less than three years, as a custodian in the district, is pretty hard, but nothing is too hard if you do your best work everyday. I love the school, the kids, the staff, my boss, the hours... everything except for disciplining my sweepers. Sometimes I just don't want to deal with the stupid little issues that come up, but that comes with being the boss.
